The Mauian Hotel

I can't speak to the rooms themselves, but I wanted to leave them a good review based on service + exterior as my spouse and I were intending to stay there for our trip, but due to unfortunate emergency, had to cancel our trip at the last moment. They were understanding/accommodating, and we got our deposit back. We've stayed at places around there before though, and always wanted to try it as the hotel and area are gorgeous, with short access to the beach. Will definitely book them again on our next trip to Maui!

Have been to Maui many times, but my wife and I did a last minute trip to the island, having just been the early in the year. We found the Mauian Hotel to be a hidden gem. Not only was the hotel basically right on the beach! and what a beach. The rooms were nothing fancy but very nice. But the hotel staff was GREAT!!!! we arrived late after the office had closed, but Don the night security guard got us right in to our room and since we arrived late we were hungry. He walk us over to a nice restaurant and made sure we were seated. Great service is hard to come by, don't pass it up.

After traveling for 18 hours, we were looking forward to a good night sleep. Unfortunately we were awaken early morning by hammering, sawing and construction workers talking. The hotel had construction going on right next to our room. This construction noise went on for the duration of our two day stay. When we checked in, the hotel never mentioned that our room was next to where construction was taking place. We completed an online hotel customer survey and voiced our displeasure with our stay but never heard back from management. There were some positives about this hotel but we’re not going to mention those since the hotel did not feel obligated to at least respond to our concerns.

Everything about this place was incredible, we checked in late, and we got greeted by a security guard who was one of the most kind, elderly gentleman we have ever met. It is right on a sandy Beach, steps from the water, and cannot wait to hopefully come back here in the near future! I’ve stayed at all the islands in Hawaii, and this hotel is my favorite.

It is a cute property and right on the beach. That said, the beach gets very crowded because it is not private. The partial ocean view was off the balcony, but that was fine. Hearing the waves lap back and forth was very soothing. The grounds are very well maintained, but the units themselves are outdated and somewhat shabby. While the bathroom had been remodeled, the living area needed an upgrade with new carpet and furniture. Evidence of the recent fresh coat of paint was left as excess paint streaks on glass, etc and was not performed very well. What was nice was the memory foam bed. Cupboard handles were sticky and I found a cockroach on the kitchen floor the last night there. The refrigerator door had dents in it. That said, it's a full kitchen with sink, blender, coffee maker, toaster, and plates and utensils. There are no televisions in the rooms, and given the paper thin walls (you can hear a lot going on next door and above and below), I understand why. They need to replace all their incandescent light bulbs with leds and use the same color temp. My unit was very multi-colored at night. The pool was refreshing, but not warm. There are lots of local cats on the property, which if you are a cat person like me, is wonderful. Some exotic birds fly by and visit too. The "free breakfasts" that consist of coffee, hard boiled eggs, fruit and sweet rolls could be expanded to include eggs and meat. This place is pricey and you're paying for the views and the proximity to the beach. Parking is limited, but you are provided a permit. There are a couple of local restaurants within a 5 min walk, which is convenient. Since I arrived after hours, the friendly security guard checked me in and walked me to my building. Overall, a good visit, but I probably won't be staying here again. Aloha.
